What Is a High Voltage BMS?
At its core, a high voltage BMS continuously monitors every cell's voltage and temperature, performs active or passive cell balancing, enforces over-charge / over-discharge / over-current protection, and reports state-of-charge (SoC) and state-of-health (SoH) to the system controller. In a high-voltage pack — think 160S LFP at ~512V — the monitoring is split across slave BMUs close to the cells, aggregated by a master RBMS that talks to the PCS.
